In this installment of the Grind City Media 2023 NBA Mock Draft, Kelcey Wright Johnson is joined by Aaron Rose representing the Toronto Raptors. It appears that the Raptors have multiple needs to address with their 13th pick, including a backup or starting point guard, shooting, and overall improvements to their roster.
While trade possibilities were discussed, it was determined that the Raptors would stay put at number 13 and make their selection. With that pick, Aaron Rose chose Kobe Bufkin from Michigan. Bufkin is described as a combo guard who can play both point guard and shooting guard positions. He is seen as a well-rounded player with the ability to create for himself and others, as well as being a solid three-point shooter. Despite some defensive questions, Bufkin is regarded as a ferocious point of attack defender.
In terms of fitting with the Raptors’ roster, Bufkin’s skills as a ball handler and his defensive abilities align with the team’s needs. While his size and weight may be slight concerns, the 13th pick in the draft is not expected to yield a perfect prospect, and Bufkin’s overall skill set makes him a valuable selection.
